The AI Defect Finder feature is designed to help home inspectors by automatically identifying defects in uploaded images. Once a user uploads an image, the AI scans the image, detects any issues, and then generates comments related to those defects, which can be added directly to the inspection report. This feature will significantly enhance the efficiency of the inspection process, allowing for quicker and more consistent reporting.

How It Works
Access Point: Inspectors can access the AI Defect Detector by clicking New Comment in the relevant Category/Line, where a dedicated AI Defect Detector tab (highlighted in purple) is available.
Image Selection: Images can be added by dragging and dropping from the Report Media Library or by uploading directly from the device.
Comment Configuration: Inspectors can choose the type of comment structure - a long detailed version or a shorter one, with or without recommendations.
Additional Context: An Additional Info field allows inspectors to provide context about the image(s) to help the AI generate more relevant comments.
AI Analysis: After selecting the configuration and clicking Analyze initiates the Defect Detection process, which scans the uploaded images and generates comments based on identified defects.
How to Access the AI Defect Detector
Step 1. In the Report Writer, navigate to the category/line that best relates to the image that needs to be analyzed (for example, if the image is of a driveway path, select the Driveway category).
Click Add Comment.
In the new comment screen, select the AI Defect Detector tab highlighted in purple at the top.
Step 2. Upload Images
Upload images using one of the available options:
Drag and drop images from the Report Media Library, or
Upload images from the device.
Supported formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .png
Maximum upload size: 20 MB per image
Up to 10 images can be selected at once.
Minimum of one image should be upload to enable Analyze Images option.

Step 3: Configure Comment Options
Under Comment Generation Options, select your preferences: Short or Long comment.
Enable or disable Include recommendation checkbox.
(Optional) Provide additional context in the Add context field to help AI understand your focus (e.g., “Rusted pipe joints,” “Broken insulation”).
Once ready, click Analyze Images to generate AI-based comments.
All images are analyzed individually, and an individual comment is generated for each image.
Step 4: Regenerate or Modify AI Comments
After analysis, the comment selection screen will display AI-generated comments for each image.
Click the pencil icon to open the edit menu.
From this menu, you can:
Switch between Short and Long comment formats.
Add or remove recommendations.
Edit context if additional details are needed.
Regenerate the comment if you’d like the AI to re-analyze and create a new version of previous configurations.
Comments are re-analyzed based on the configuration changes and are re-generated.
Step 5: Select and Add Comments to the Report
Each generated comment will appear in the left panel with a preview image and title.
Click the checkbox available in the right side and select one or more comments.
Selected comments are visually highlighted and marked as Selected.
Select one or more comments to add in the report.
Click Add Comments to insert them directly into the report under the chosen category/line.
Added Comments are visible immediately in the report.
Tips for Best Results
Use clear, well-lit photos that highlight the issue area.
Add context for better comment accuracy.
Review AI comments before finalizing reports — you can always edit or personalize them.
