1. What’s new in PTC?
With the next version of Palmtech, we will release a: brand new app, brand new portal, web editor and template editor. There are a lot of great new features like voice command, taking multiple pictures at once, sending your agreements through the new portal and payment collection.
2. Will my old version still work?
There are no planned updates or changes to previous versions which means it should continue to function like it does today, however, as technology changes it will not be updated to ensure future compatibility with devices or operating system updates.
3. What is an HTML link?/What is the new HTML report?
Your report is sent out as a link and includes the PDF you create now with a more professional look. It also allows you to add videos and includes a request list creator that your clients and agents will love. I can send you a sample if you would like.
4. Will my templates and canned comments/libraries be transferred?
Yes. Your current information will be imported into Version 9 and we’ll send you instructions on how to do this.
This is something we can help walk you through over the phone as well or in a zoom meeting.
5. Is it hard to transition to PTC?
No, there is not a big learning curve. The new version has a ton of improvements, but the core functionality remains the same so you’ll be able to dive into the new version and know how to use it right away.
6. How do I get started? How do I order the upgrade?
I will send you a link right now and we can walk through ordering it together.
7. What can I do with the portal?
The portal has a scheduling component where you can schedule and manage all your appointments. It has a database for managing and tracking your clients and agents. It also has some basic business tools and automations as well as reports.
8. How is the app faster? Why is the app faster?
It was redesigned from the ground up to save time. We streamlined the process of entering information so that it now involves less taps and less navigation. You now will select your items with a checkbox instead of dropdown lists which will make entering your data much faster and taking photos is much faster in the new app too.
9. I was told when I purchased Palmtech, I wouldn’t have to buy software again.
You can continue to use the software you currently own, but the best option is to sign up for a subscription to Palmtech so you will always be on the most recent version of the software. That way you will get access to all the new features as soon as they are released.
10. What happened to the OTP option? I don’t want to sign up for a subscription.
The one time purchase is no longer an option. We have a monthly subscription for $50/month or you can sign up for a yearly subscription for $500/year
11. Is this Palmtech 10
The new version is Palmtech Complete
12. Will it run on a Mac?
Yes! The new version will have a web-based component that will run in your browser which means you will be able to use it on your Mac.
13. Can I use it on a Chromebook?
Yes! The new version will have a web-based component that will run in your browser which means you will be able to use it on your Mac.
14.What do you mean by Web Editor? What is the web editor?
The web editor is browser based which means that you will be able to write your reports by logging into Palmtech through your browser vs having to install the software. This is what you would use to write reports on non phones/tablets.
15. Will there still be a PC version?
There will not be an installable PC version of Palmtech, but you will be able to use it on your PC by using the Portal and Web Editor through a web browser.
16. Will I still have a cloud drive?
NextGen will store all your inspections, templates, libraries, etc online. It will work differently in that there isn’t a ‘cloud drive’ that you have to send files back and forth to. All of the syncing and storing of files happens automatically which means there is a cloud drive in the sense that all your files are stored on the cloud, but you don't have to do any management of it.
17. Will there be a PDF or just an interactive/HTML report?
There will be both. The interactive/html report will include a viewable/downloadable PDF similar to the way it does now.
18. Can I just send the PDF?
No - The default report experience will be the interactive, HTML report. This will include a professional PDF that will be easily viewable/downloadable for those clients who prefer it.
19. Will multiple inspectors be able to work together on site on the same inspection?
Yes - There will be a live sync that instantly updates the inspection each time something is filled out assuming you have an internet connection. This means each inspector will be able to see in real time what the other inspector has done.
